Bar Star Jesse Vida is the latest name to lay down stakes in Asia. The former Head Bartender of NYC’s Black Tail will now helm the bar at Singapore’s Atlas.
The news was first announced by Atlas. “With over ten years of bartending and bar management experience across San Francisco and New York, Jesse is now an integral part of our team here in Singapore,” the company said in a statement. “A passionate mentor and inspired leader, we look forward to Jesse setting a strong direction behind the bar and across the organisation. His drive for excellence and passion for providing an outstanding guest experience are what made us love him, and we’re sure you will too!”
Said drive for excellence landed Vida in positions at some of America’s best bars. His resume includes time at Booker + Dax, Locanda, Dutch Kills, and The Dead Rabbit before the Black Tail gig that he concluded this past October.
“It has been a whirlwind the last 48 hours to say the least. From picking up and moving half way across the world to the gracious and humbling welcome from the stellar team at @atlasbarsg I am a very lucky guy,” Vida wrote on Instagram. “I cannot wait to integrate and contribute to one of the best cocktail communities in the world. Singapore thank you for having me, @atlasbarsg I cannot wait to get started!”
Neither Vida nor Atlas are strangers to accolades. Under Vida’s leadership, Black Tail made the World’s 50 Best Bars list and bagged “Best New American Cocktail Bar” at TOTC’s Spirited Awards. Likewise, Atlas also cracked the top 50 and earned a few Spirited Award nominations of their own.
