Tales Goes Brick n’ Mortar

The Tales of the Cocktail Foundation has a new brick and mortar home. The industry heavyweight just announced that they will be leasing a space in downtown New Orleans. The new venue will serve as both an event space as well as full service cocktail bar (plus provide office space for the Foundation.)

“This initiative is going to significantly expand the footprint of Tales of the Cocktail Foundation,” said Gary Solomon Jr., Co-Chair of the TOTCF Board of Directors in statement. “Historically, the organization was able to reach this audience of both industry and enthusiasts alike a few weeks a year, and now, we’ll be able to further the Foundation’s efforts to educate, advance, and support the community 365 days a year, on a broader scale.”

The space’s inaugural event will be the annual Tales of the Toddy. Then, following some buildout, the venue will reopen in February as “Storyteller x Tales.” Storyteller will host recurring and one-off events drawing upon local and global talent.

The next phase of the plan entails a full service bar, open seven days weekly, in the space. Currently named, “Tales of the Cocktail Bar,” TOTCF did not provide additional details about the operator, exact timeframe, or logistics of the endeavor.

Storyteller will be located 129 Camp St. in New Orleans’ Central Business District (CBD). The venue was previously Pigeon & Prince, a private event space operated by John Besh’s scandal stricken BRG; TOTCF stressed that BRG will not be involved in the new project. 

The location will also add to the dream of a “cocktail district” in NOLA. Storyteller’s location is only a few blocks from the future site of the Sazerac House, a spirit museum, bar, and office space currently being constructed by the Sazerac Co. The James Beard Award winning Arnaud’s French 75 Bar and tiki mecca Jeff Beachbum Berry’s Latitude 29 are both only a few blocks away.
