Tales on Tour Puerto Rico Drops Details

By Neat Pour Staff |

Last fall, the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF) announced that Tales on Tour is heading to Puerto Rico in 2019. Now, TOTCF is providing some details about what the March 10-13th conference will look like.

The most prominent feature of Tales on Tour is a day of service. This aspect of programming should come as no surprise. Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria as well as a subsequent lack of federal support in 2017. Likewise, the Tales team, NOLA natives, experienced a similar narrative in 2005 when NOLA’s federal levee system failed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, sparking massive flooding and a humanitarian disaster neglected by the feds.

Industry watchers will likely find the evening programs of note. Both Bacardi and William Grant will be sponsoring parties at night evocative of NOLA Tales past. For those trying to read the tea-leaves about the relationship between the organization and large brands, this is probably a positive indicator.

The conference’s signature seminars are also on tap for Tour. Headlining sessions include a business seminar with Iain McPherson, AK Hada, and Jeff “Beachbum” Berry; a sustainability workshop with Bex Almqvist, Iain Griffiths, and Kelsey Ramage; and a panel of rum allstars including including Maggie Campbell, David Wondrich, Ian Burrell, and Roberto Serralles. Seminars will be priced at $35 a pop with bulk discounts available.

For those watching the World’s 50 Best Bars list, La Factoria, number 36, will play host to several parties.

The final detail leaked by the organizer are planned field trips around Puerto Rico.

Tickets are planned for sale on January 10.
