Lyans Team Expanding To U.S. and Holland In 2019

If there’s one thing that cocktail maestro Ryan Chetiyawardana a.k.a. Mr. Lyan loves as much as opening bars, it’s dropping bombs on Instagram. Today, the London restauranteur was back online with the news that his Lyan group is opening three new locations and two of them will be outside of the UK altogether. Boom!

In a lengthy Instagram post, Chetiyawardana wrote that London, the traditional den of the Lyans, will soon be the home of new Lyaness. In addition, Super Lyan is slated to open in Amsterdam and Silver Lyan will hold court in Washington D.C. According to ownership, all three establishments will open in 2019.

“We also always wanted to have diverse projects – something that felt authentic, and as a compliment to the other wonderful, passionate projects out there, and to create platforms for the team to do their amazingness day in day out – so when you see the word Lyan, you know it’s ours, and stands for our unique take on accessible innovation, and the desire to have something inclusive, fun and honest that helps bring people together,” Chetiyawardana explained in the announcement.

(We also learned that the Lyan name is based on a childhood bastardization of his first name ‘Ryan’ and that Mama Chet still has a super adorable drawing that explains this all.)

The news also included references to bars that the Lyans team “kills.” Notably, Dandelyan announced plans to close immediately before accepting the top spot on the World’s 50 Best Bars list. However, Mr. Lyan also noted that Cub, the team’s new sustainable food focused endeavor is not going anywhere.
