Texas Dominates Bar Fight Club 2019 (Photos)

Don’t mess with Texas! On Monday (5.06) night, bars from the Lone Star State cleaned house (front and back) at the annual Bar Fight Club throw-down. Houston’s Johnny’s Gold Brick was crowned Bar Fight Club Champion by the judging panel while Austin’s Nickel City took home the People’s Choice Award.

On the first night of the Chicago Style conference, 400 guests descended on Chicago’s Fulton Market Kitchen where six different bars created one-night only pop-up experiences of their home venues—and talk some trash. The impressive competitor list featured Existing Conditions (New York), Good Measure (Chicago), Johnny’s Gold Brick, Nickel City, Pretty Ugly (Toronto) and True Laurel (San Francisco).

After a debaucherous evening, winners were announced. The judging panel picked Johnny’s as their champions, rewarding them with bragging rights and a trip to London curated by event sponsor, Ford’s Gin. The popular vote was won by Nickel City who celebrated with their oversized Flask of Victory until the wee hours.

DiSCUS Annual Report: Tariffs, Premium Spirits, & Excise Breaks

On February 12, the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DiSCUS) presented their annual report about the state of the spirits industry in America.
