World’s 50 Best Bars Drops LongList of 51-100 for 2020

The big list is here! On Thursday (10.29), the World’s 50 Best Bars released their rankings of the 51st through 100th top cocktail destinations around the globe. The roster included some newcomers and some high profile casualties.

“The evolution of the 51-100 list, which sees 26 new entries this edition, reflects the pace of progress in the global cocktail industry,” said Mark Sansom, Content Editor for The World’s 50 Best Bars. “Despite relentless challenges this year, these bars have emerged with inspiring resilience, with many advancing in their recovery process.”

The US boasted the largest presence on the 51-100 list with seven bars including Cafe La Trova, Pacific Cocktail Haven, and Kumiko, Death & Co. Led by the UK, Europe was the 

Melbourne was the top spot in Australasia, with four bars in the 51-100 ranking including The Everleigh at No.73. South Africa also made their mark with drink spots in Cape Town and Johannesburg snagging three slots. Singapore accounted for five out of 16 bars of Asia’s bars on the list. No Sleep Club led the regional pack at No.53. China and Taiwan each bagged three spots. 

South and Central America scored five entries in the lineup including Hanky Panky, Baltra Bar, and Tres Monos.

The rankings were voted on by 50 Best’s 540 member academy, an 50/50 male/female identifying group of writers, bartenders, and other assorted industry types. The Top 50 list will be released next Thursday.
