World’s 50 Best Rolls Out 50 Next

Is the hospitality world really returning to normal? Well, there’s a new list out. Res ipso loquitur. Today, the World’s 50 Best team rolled out 50 Next, a power ranking of the rising stars shaking up the hospitality industry.

“As the world of gastronomy strives to recover from the devastating effects of the pandemic, it is more important than ever for us to support, empower and celebrate those at every level of the food and drink chain,” stated 50 Best Content Director William Drew in a release.

“By bringing together this truly diverse list of young people with the support of the Basque Culinary Center, the Biscay region and the wider 50 Best family, we pledge to nurture, uplift and provide a platform for those fighting for a brighter future for gastronomy. 50 Next allows us to connect today’s leaders with the next generation.”

The list is a joint effort with the Basque Culinary Center. The 50 winners below the age of 35-years-old were chosen after an open nomination process.

The 700 candidates were then interviewed and vetted with an eye towards community contributions and diversity.

The final selections were grouped into seven categories: Gamechanging ProducersTech DisruptorsEmpowering EducatorsEntrepreneurial CreativesScience InnovatorsHospitality Pioneers, and Trailblazing Activists.
