A drink whose simplified variations (rum & Coke) have been tried by almost everyone of drinking age, the Cuba Libre is worthy of your respect. Alleged to be over 100 years old, the drink combining cola, (Cuban) rum, and lime (whether squeezed or as a garnish). The drink’s name parallels Cuba’s independence movement in the mid 1800s.

  1. Squeeze the juice of half of a lime into a collins glass.
  2. Muddle the remainder of the juiced half lime to express the oils.
  3. Add the rum.
  4. Add ice, top with coke, and stir.
