This drink was named for Marie-Jeanne, Comtesse du Barry, courtesan and royal mistress to Louis XV. Du Barry ultimately rode the cart to the guillotine, but nearly a century and a half later, a drink was created in her honor.

The du Barry Martini boasts far more herbs, bitterness, and aromatics than the original.
