Here is another lesson from the Golden Age of cocktails. Back then, a fancy cocktail involved taking a base recipe, like the Manhattan, and adding a bar spoon (or two) of a liqueur or cordial to add a little sweetness or flavor. In this case, we optimized the recipe adding two separate modifiers of half an ounce each.
